Pete Smith is correct in that the Saturdays through the summer are intended to provide a support service for members, in that your committee organises a list of experienced members to be available on site to offer informal help.

We are a small sailing club and we have neither the currently qualified members to run training courses nor do we have the necessary insurance.

If a member would like more formal training there are several RYA recognised training establishments in the county; this includes our neighbours the Norfolk Schools SA on Filby Broad" who were set up specifically to teach the youth of Norfolk to sail. They have a good range of dinghies to suit all ages & abilities.

As a new member I think that some level of informal coaching, perhaps on Saturdays would be useful. The annual programme suggest there will be an experienced person available on Sats later in the season. So Steve's post here is a bit confusing.
I guess there is a whole load of red tape/health and safety to go through. RYA regs and all that stuff, so I can understand the committee's reluctance.
However it seems to me that there are very few youngsters at the club, and informal training sessions might be a way to generate more families to come to the club.

That
s a pity but if that
s the desision of the committee then there must be a reason.
Steve :- Are you still going to be sailing every now & again from casiter ( wrong spelling I`m sure )after mid April?

James, as mentioned at the club, I know Sam Winfield will be up for that. Our problem is no road trailer to get there - Perhaps something could be arranged to borrow from another member for the day.
